survey and postponement of rent adjustment

Dear tenant, dear tenant

How are you doing? That question will be asked a lot now. In other times, asking the question was more relevant than listening to the answer. Now I would really like to hear the answer. The CBK is currently conducting a survey among artists in Rotterdam about exactly that question. If you missed it, you can fill it out here.

But also: we have decided to postpone the annual adjustment of the rent in line with inflation. Every year we adjust the rent in line with inflation, on 1 July. We have to. All other prices rise, certainly in construction and maintenance, but also in the rents we pay.

Over the past four years, we have maintained the SKAR standard in the rent, and we will continue to do so for as long as we can. So we haven't raised the rent, and we're not going to do that this year either. However, we won't escape the inflation correction, because otherwise we won't be able to stay afloat. But this year the correction is very awkward, now that the uncertainty about income is so great for a large part of the artists, designers and makers. We have therefore decided to postpone the indexation (that's what the inflation correction is called). It will not be implemented until 1 September this year - in the hope that this will give some air.

I mentioned it earlier: the CBK has developed an initiative with which artists can receive a contribution for their work: the temporary contribution Production, Presentation and Research . It is a wonderful initiative that is so desperately needed right now. We need more of it.

In the meantime, over a week ago, we offered a large number of studios that became available. There was a run: the demand for studios is still very high. We keep coming up with new spaces.
