SKAR develops and rents out workspace for artists, designers and creative entrepreneurs in Rotterdam. In a city that is growing and is known for its creativity, the need for these kinds of workplaces is high. At the same time, the availability of affordable workspace is coming under pressure.
SKAR's challenge for the coming years is therefore to grow, so that artists/creatives can continue to work in Rotterdam and this city can continue to grow as a city for creative pioneers. SKAR currently has 42 properties under management, varying from studio buildings to incubators. SKAR is looking for someone for its board who has knowledge of the (re)development of real estate from a practical point of view, whereby a basis in real estate calculations and exploitation in particular is required.
What we ask of the new board member:
She/he
- has affinity with creative entrepreneurship and the art sector in particular;
- endorses the objectives of the foundation;
- is able, on the basis of specific expertise, to provide the board and the director with substantive advice;
- is able to assess the organization of the foundation on its effectiveness;
- is able on the basis of knowledge and experience to assess policy and/or financial documents;
Furthermore, he/she has
- preferably managerial or policy experience
- a network at the administrative level of one of the stakeholders
- No (business) interest in SKAR or its field of activity
more specifically we ask:
- a background as a structural engineer, with
- knowledge of real estate calculations
- knowledge of the conversion of buildings
- knowledge of exploitation models.
SKAR strives for a diverse composition of its board. It follows the Culture Governance Code 2019 and embraces the Diversity and Inclusion Code.
