SKAR wants to help the creative sector in Rotterdam to be successful. It does this by offering affordable workspace, creating meeting places and making connections. Together with the creative sector we want to be valuable to landlords, the neighbourhood and the city.
SKAR believes that the creative sector contributes significantly to Rotterdam's cultural, economic and spatial success. The SKAR network of workspaces and creatives will help ensure that Rotterdam grows into a creative pioneer city.
SKAR is supported in its mission by the City of Rotterdam. As an intermediary organization in culture, it receives a subsidy from the city. This is used to pay for office costs, among other things. These costs are therefore not included in the rents for artists who rent at the SKAR standard. In addition, it has an agreement with the city that it can rent premises at cost price.
