I have to pay more, what about that?

At SKAR we would like to keep the rent at the same level. In most cases, this is based on the SKAR-standard, which in 2021 comes down to € 52.50 per square meter per year (or 4.78 per square meter per month). Nevertheless, you will see that the costs you pay for renting will increase. There are two reasons for this:

1: Indexation: we have to follow inflation in the rent every year. We use the consumer price index, which is also used by the municipality. In recent years, this has meant that the rent has been adjusted by approximately 1.5%. This indexation takes place annually on 1 July.

2: the advance on service costs: you pay a monthly advance on the service costs (including gas and electricity for your own consumption and your share of the general consumption). At the end of a year, these advances are settled with the actual costs paid by SKAR. This can mean that you will receive money back or will have to pay extra. If SKAR sees that the costs are going to increase, it will adjust the advances, to prevent the amount that has to be paid extra from becoming too high. This usually happens per 1 January.
