Do you want low electricity prices and want to contribute to an energy-neutral Rotterdam?
Solar panels are a good and green investment, but for an individual a pricey purchase. Blijstroom responds to this by placing solar panels on large, unused roofs in Rotterdam.
Residents can buy a share in the panels and thus benefit from low energy costs. By buying a share you get into a cooperative that manages the panels. If you want to sell your share, you can do so to other members of the cooperative.
What does the SKAR have to do with it?
SKAR wants to be able to guarantee a fixed low price for electricity for the tenants of the Ackersdijkstraat for the next twenty years. We are going to do this by installing Blijstroom solar panels on the roof of Ackersdijkstraat. In this way, we will no longer be dependent on energy companies and we will contribute to a sustainable, energy-neutral Rotterdam.
SKAR invests in sufficient solar panels to be able to provide for all electricity consumption in the workshop building. This will enable us to buy off the building's electricity bill for the next twenty years at once. If energy prices rise soon, our prices will not rise. If energy prices rise soon, our prices won't rise. So in the short term you'll be cheaper in the cost of the studio, in the long term that benefit will increase.
How can I benefit?
We want to offer tenants and local residents the opportunity to use this self-generated energy at home as well. This can be advantageous if we make use of a subsidy option specially designed for the collective generation of electricity. The only condition on this subsidy option is that you live near the solar panels, the so-called postcode rose scheme.
Those who live within the postcode rose can consider buying a share in the panels on the roof. By investing in one or more solar panels in the cooperative you buy off your future use. SKAR wants to have the solar panels on the roof this year. We don't have to wait until all the panels have been sold, so you can already benefit this year.
