Prevent fire

Fires can start anywhere, including our properties. After all, they are and remain old buildings. Still, as a tenant, there is much you can do to prevent fire from breaking out or causing major damage.

In the space you rent
The biggest risk is in how you handle electricity, both in your own space and in common areas.

Therefore, we would like to draw your attention to the following points:

  1. Electrical equipment should always be off when leaving your studio, this includes taking the standby off of it.
  2. Use only certified switchgear, think extension cords, outlets and lights etc.
  3. Do not use meter boxes as storage closets
  4. Consider the amount of voltage on outlets and extension cords.
  5. Keep in mind that studios are housed in existing buildings. This means that electrical installation options are sometimes limited.

In common areas, hallways and stairwells:
Because of fire safety, hallways and public areas must be empty.
This is important for two reasons. The first is fire danger. Equally important is that obstacles can obstruct escape routes.
This is why we keep emphasizing: corridors and public areas must not be used for storage. Those who do not have enough space can rent storage space from us.
It is the responsibility of tenants themselves to keep corridors and public spaces clear. Therefore, we assume that you can arrange it among yourselves as tenants. If you cannot, SKAR will have to remove the items. In that case, we will also recover the costs from all tenants of the property.

General
Every year the premises are checked for fire extinguishers and emergency lighting.
During these checks, things are replaced. Sometimes more maintenance needs to be done. This is done in consultation with us at a later time. A sticker on a fire extinguisher or fire hose reel indicating that it requires minor maintenance. These fire extinguishers still work and can be used in case of emergency. Should a fire extinguisher no longer function, it is replaced immediately. Should there be anything that could cause dangerous situations, action will be taken immediately.

In addition, you are our ears and eyes in the properties. If you see or hear something, discuss it with your fellow tenants or let us know.
